Krieg in der Ukraine: Benefizkonzert am 10. März 2022
Dear friends of the Cäcilienchor,
making music together is healthy, keeps you young and fosters the community. And not just the community of singers, but also the community with you, our loyal audience.
This year we will be at various locations with varying programs: Haydn's Creation in the Old Opera, Carmina Burana in Dettelbach, with Bach at Leipzig's Thomaschurch and with Bernstein and Rutter at our traditional christmas concert in the Dreikönigskirche.
But in 2020 we also want to remember the people that were ripped from our community by the Nazi terror regime. We will do so by sponsoring laying down "stumble stones" for our former choir colleagues from Frankfurt.
Look forward with us to this exciting concert year and keep being the loyal friends that you are.
With best regards
Thomas Hohmann
Chariman of the board
Dear Ladies and Gentleman,
The wishes from choir singers don't always line up with those of the conductor. While the first want to sing the Messiah, the latter would embrace Wagner's Parcifal. Compromises are made, the Messiah might be performed in 2021 and instead of Wagner the conductor might put César Franck's Beatitudes on the program in 2022, almost as beautiful as Parsifal.
But there are some wishes that line up and are only fulfilled most seldomly. Twice we were able to perform Mendelssohn at Leipzig's Thomaschurch, his Paulus and Elias - unforgettable concerts! But instead of a repitition now a long weekend with four times Bach is waiting for us at the reformation festivities 2020. This is wish fulfilment at its best and an enterprise that will find a big spot in the choir's history.
By the way, there is another common with from the singers and the conductor: that you, dear fans of the Cäcilienchor, keep your loyalty with us on our journey through all epochs of music history. We want to thank you for this with fascinating discoveries and interesing re-interpretations of famous works.
Keep being inclined to us in 2020!
Yours
Christian Kabitz
